Welcome to the Nijmegen Molecular Genetics webpage
The division of Molecular Genetics is an international research unit that develops and exploits a variety of resources, techniques and tools to realize its main goals: the Identification and Functional Characterization of Novel Disease Genes. Our long- & outstanding expertise lies in disease gene identification. In addition, our department is increasingly investing in follow-up studies to shed light on the molecular basis of disease pathologies. For this purpose we utilize a combination of biochemistry, microarray technology, molecular biology, cell and developmental systems such as Drosophila melanogaster, zebrafish and mouse. These studies will generate fundamental knowledge, identify novel candidate genes and uncover therapeutic strategies. We focus on 6 main research themes:
We have created a friendly, stimulating interdisciplinary research environment hosting groups that lead their fields. If you would like to visit or join our research group, we encourage you to contact us.
